ðŸĨū Activities & Food

We have lots of recommendations for the remainder of the weekend:

Sightseeing

  • Come check out our home! Walk around our front and back yards without notice!
  • Temple Square — Explore the history of Salt Lake's Mormon roots. Combine with the Capitol!
  • State Capitol — Just north of the Temple!
  • Memory Grove Park — Quiet, scenic, accessible mini-canyon. Lots of Dogs! Walkable from the Capitol.
  • Scenic Drive — Big Cottonwood Canyon to Park City via Guardsman Pass (closed winters and opens mid-May). Expect large snowbanks!

Family Fun

  • City Creek or Gateway Malls — Both super close to the Lodging options.
  • Clark Planetarium — Free admission, films cost extra.
  • Red Butte Garden — This botanical garden by the University is incredibly well-kept.
  • Olympic Park — Learn more about the 2002 (and 2034) Olympic Winter games! Summer Bobsled might be open!

Outdoor Adventures

  • Real Rock Climbing — No experience needed (but equipment is)! Ledgemere Picnic area has beautiful picnic spots with rock climbing just a few feet away! Message us if interested!
  • Great Salt Lake — Float effortlessly in the Western Hemisphere's largest saltwater lake. Visit Antelope Island for bison, hiking, and incredible sunsets!

Hiking

  • (Easy) Ensign Peak — 1 mile with 400 ft elevation gain, incredible views of the valley. Huge bang for buck!
  • (Moderate) Living Room Trail — 2.5 miles with 1000 ft elevation gain, overlooking the University of Utah.
  • (Hard) Lake Blanche — 6.5 miles with 2700 ft elevation gain, high elevation lakes and views, expect some snow towards the top.
  • (Hard) Mount Olympus — 7 miles with 4000 ft elevation gain, not for the faint of heart.

Bars & Breweries (ID Required)

  • Fisher Brewery — Food trucks out front with indoor and outdoor seating. Parking can be tricky.
  • TF Brewery — Similar to Fisher, but smaller.
  • Quarters — Downtown "barcade."
  • Squatters — Downtown Brewpub.

Some of our favorite food spots:

Salt Lake

  • Red Iguana (or Red Iguana 2) — Killer Mexican food at affordable prices. The long wait is worth the quick service!
  • Ruth's Diner — Sick of the city? Escape the hustle and bustle and drive a few miles up Emigration Canyon for a tasty diner.
  • Star of India — Incredible Indian food. Never had a bad meal!
  • Stone Ground — High class Italian.
  • Utah Soda Shops — Since Mormons do not drink coffee, Soda shops like Thirst, Swig, and Fiiz are growing. Try a dirty soda unique to Utah!
  • Tacos Don Rafa (Taco Stand) — Leopold and McKinley's first date. You cannot say no to $7 burritos!
  • Rockwell Ice Cream — Incredible flavors - we dare you to try the Pizookie.
  • Proper Burger (21+) — Quality $5 burgers after 10p on Friday/Saturday!
  • All Chay — Vegan Vietnamese. Flavorful and affordable!
  • Hruska's Kolaches — Grab and go Breakfast/Brunch. They sell out quick! Savory and sweet options.
  • The Pie Pizzeria — Go to the "Underground" location for a U of U staple!
  • The Dodo — American bistro. Near Sugar House Park, a large urban park.
  • Pizza Nono — Quality Pizza near trendy "9th and 9th." Follow up with Gelato at Dolcetti!
  • Slackwater Pizza — Artisan pizzas, craft beer, and more!

Park City

  • Nosh — Absolutely incredible Mediterranean food.
  • Maxwell's Pizza — East coast style.
